Seven Ways to Achieve a Relaxed Disney Vacation

A lot of people like to refer to their Disney World vacations as trips, not vacations.

If you are from my world, a trip is something you do that involves, you know, exploring, and adventure, but it's not necessarily relaxing. Most people don't think of the word relaxing when they think of a Disney World vacation. So, if the goal for your next trip is to have a relaxed or a more relaxed vacation than you currently anticipate, these are seven ways you can achieve that.

1. Think Practical, Not Perfection

Everywhere you look on social media, you're going to see images of perfection when you see Disney World. You'll see lots of people in Disney bounding outfits, lots of photos of families looking perfect, and clothes that are over the top and expensive.

Don't believe the hype. Those are just moments. And just like everybody else, those people are not having an entire experience that's that amazing every second of their time there.

And you don't need to follow that agenda to have an amazing Disney experience yourself. So what do I mean by that? Well, especially when you have young children, your focus is primarily on meeting their needs first, right?

Trying to achieve matching an image that you're seeing on social media while attending to your children's needs is not going to serve you in having a relaxed vacation. A lot of times when I'm planning my trips, I match athletic wear with cute t-shirts, and you can get cute little Disney t-shirts anywhere. You can buy them online. You can go to Target. You can find them in Walmart.

When you combine those t-shirts with athletic shorts or athletic bottoms, like a tennis skirt that has, like, the built-in shorts, those are really affordable and practical at the same You can still, you know, feel like you look cute, but I just want to make that point that you can wear practical outfits. When we're thinking about practicality and not perfection, don't feel like you have to pressure yourself to look a certain way and that your children's outfits need to look a certain way. A cute little t-shirt from Target or Walmart is going to look just as cute in your photo as something more expensive. So think comfort and breathability over fashion, because you're going to be sweating, and you're going to be hot.

Any time of the year you're in Disney, there's going to be parts of the day where it's warm, and you want to make sure that your comfort comes first when you are walking that many steps during the day. That's going to make your trip more relaxed if you are comfortable. Along with that, you can kind of, you also want to make sure that you wear practical, smart shoes.

If you're going to spend money on what you’re wearing, I would spend it on shoes, making sure that you wear really good sneakers for the amount of walking that you do. If your feet are hurting, then that's going to ruin your vacation.

2. Reflect on Your Family's Traveling Style and Budget

Think about what is most important to your family on your Disney vacation. Here are some questions to think about:

Are you a ride-focused family? And if you are, what kind? Like, Are you looking for the thrill-seeking rides, like the roller coasters?

Are you looking for the more family-friendly rides with young children? Are you looking for the slow rides, or all the above?

Are you a show-and-parade-watching family?

Are you a non-ride attractions family? Like, do you like to go to the parks and just sort of mosey around doing this and that?

Are you foodies?

Are you a combination of any of the above?

You want to think about what are the priorities to your family and focus in on that the most, then you’ll know what style of vacation you want to have. From there you can eliminate some other activities that might not be as important to you. For example, if you are all about the rides, then you may not want to prioritize going to the Carousel of Progress or watching the Friendship Faire show in front of the castle.

The reason I say that is because there are so many things to do in Disney World that it can be very overwhelming, so when you simplify and prioritize what's most important to you and your family, you can eliminate things and just do what's most important to you, so that you are leaving time in your day and in your schedule to kind of breathe and take it in and leave room for spontaneity as well.

So you won't feel overwhelmed or overstressed. You also want to think about how important the budget is to you. So where does that fall in your priorities? This is where I bring in my 421 method, which I mentioned in my podcast topic of doing a wallet-friendly Disney vacation. It's a recommendation that I make if you are trying to plan a budget-conscious trip, where you plan 4 nights, 2 park days and 1 rest day, or 3 nights, 1 park day, 1 rest day. I think it's vitally important that you always include a rest day in your trip in order to not overwhelm, to not over-stress, and to not overexert yourself if you are seeking a relaxed vacation as a goal. Disney World is a whole other being. It requires so much walking, so much energy, so much physical exertion that having that space in your trip for a rest day is really important in order to maintain balance, if balance is important to you. That's why I would recommend a shorter trip and including a rest day.

I also mention this is because it reduces the amount of planning you have to do. A four day vacation or a three day vacation versus a five or six day vacation, that's a big difference in planning. Not only are you going to save money, but it also simplifies the process, and as I have said before in my podcast about budgeting, you don't have to do all four parks in one trip.

3. Stay on Site at a Disney Resort

This will reduce stress and help create a more relaxed trip when your transportation is being provided for you, wherever you need to go on property. When you stay on site, you have access to all the forms of transportation at Disney without having to think about it. You know, there are buses, boats, the Monorail, the Skyliner, and, of course, there’s walking.

If it works with your outline and your priorities that you set, as stated in tip number two, stay somewhere if you can, with multiple forms of transportation. There are a few resorts that only have one type of transportation: the All-Star Music, Sports and Movies Resorts, and Animal Kingdom. Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort. The others are value resorts. I'm not trying to deter you from staying at any of these resorts. In fact, the All Star Music resort is one of my absolute favorite resorts, however, if your goal is to achieve a more relaxed vacation, staying at a resort that has multiple forms of transportation might help you achieve that goal more readily.

Let's say you're only able to use a bus and the buses are running late. You may be delayed in getting places. Having other ways to get around can help reduce stress and give you options. When I'm talking about the value resorts, an alternative to the All Stars are the Pop Century and Art of Animation, which are on the Skyliner route, and will give you two forms of transportation to use. If it's in your budget to go up a little bit from the All Stars to Pop Century, or Art of Animation, it might be worth it for you to think about it.

The other benefits of staying on site are the early access to the parks, the Lightning Lane advantage, and Deluxe After Hours, if you're staying in a Deluxe Resort. There are certain nights where guests of Deluxe Resorts can stay at the parks later.

The other recommendation I would make when it comes to resorts, is if it's in your budget to consider staying at a moderate resort, then these are a great option. The moderate resorts are priced in between the Value and Deluxe prices, and they have a much more relaxed feel to them than many of the other resorts do. The moderate resorts are:

Port Orleans Riverside

Port Orleans French Quarter

Coronado Springs

Caribbean Beach Resort

4. Skip Rope Drop

The rope drop strategy is a great tool for saving money and not purchasing single lightning lanes for extremely popular rides, however, if you're seeking a more relaxed trip, then you don't need to do that. Single Plass Lightning Lanes and Multipass Lightning Lanes hold their value, and if you budget form them, you’ll have a more relaxed experience in the parks. You're able to plan your day ahead of time and have more of an outline of what you're going to do because you've booked your three preset Lightning Lanes already. Everything else after that that comes, once you get into the park, is kind of the icing on the cake.

I follow another podcaster, Dana Stanley, and she is the creator of https://laidbackmagic.somewhereworthwhile.com/ I first heard the 3-2-1 method from Dana, which is where you book three Lightning Lanes, you do two experiences in the park that are not rides, like a parade or show, and you sit down for one table service meal in the day.

And I think that is really good advice from Dana, because if you have that general outline for your day, everything else that you do is kind of peripheral, like you've already won when you know you’ve prioritized the three biggest rides that you want it to do and two amazing experiences in the parks, because every park in Disney World has incredible shows and experiences beyond the rides. This method doesn’t eliminate doing more, it just gives you a planned starting point that you can use and have set ahead of time.

5. Make a Checklist

Kind of like set it and forget it when you're cooking, you know?

You want to make a checklist, so that you don't forget anything Having a checklist kind of takes the mental load out of your head. It puts it on paper or on your digital notes or your alerts, however you personally plan yourself.

If you're using a travel agent, they can do some of this for you, but if you are planning on your own, you'll want to set alerts for some of the following things here:

  • 60 Day advanced dining reservations

    • Make sure that the day of your 60 days prior, that you're up that morning and ready to get on to your My Disney Experience app and make your dining reservations.

  • 7 Day Lightning Lane purchase

    • Seven days prior to driving in Disney World have your alarm set to go on and book your Lightning Lanes that morning.

  • Arrange for shuttle service or an Uber or whatever transportation you’ll need to and from the airport, if you are flying.

  • Do a grocery order about two days prior to your arrival in Disney World, so that you can make sure you can get some essentials delivered to your hotel room. You don't want to pay through the nose for bottled water at your resort.

  • Order your Memory Maker, if you are planning to utilize the professional photographers all over the parks, then make sure you order this ahead of time, so that you aren’t overcharged for photos when you get to the parks.

6. Make a Packing List

Make your packing list way ahead of time. Don't wait until the week you’re leaving for Disney, because there's going to be things that you need, and you want to have them before that week.

About a month out, you want to make sure you have your packing list, and just start making little piles for each person in your family of things that they might need, things that you're thinking of, and little activities for your kids to do while you travel. Doing this ahead of time will reduce your stress level and help you feel more relaxed. There are packing list suggestions everywhere online, so if you’re not sure where to start, just Google it, and you’ll find lots of choices.

7. Don't Overplan Your Trip

Stick to the simple outline of your days by focusing on making practical decisions, prioritizing what's most important to your family and letting the rest go. Leave room for spontaneity and fun because that's where the magic happens in Disney World when you have space for those moments.

If you're trying to do too much, you're going to miss some of that fun. You're going to miss some of those moments with your kids, and that's the whole reason you're there is to have those memories with your kids.

8 Ways to Enjoy a Budget Friendly Disney Vacation

Pop Century Resort in Disney World is just one recommendation for a Wallet-Friendly vacation. Read more to find out the best tips for staying in a budget.

#1. Visit Disney During Off-Peak Times of the Year.

My first budget tip for you in planning a value-centered and budget-friendly Disney vacation is to visit Disney at off-peak times of the year. This is the best way to save the most money when you plan a Disney trip. Now, you might have to sacrifice the best weather, but you are going to save the most money and get the most value for your trip. I would recommend:

  • Early January

    • When winter break is over and children go back to school rates are lower for the first 2 weeks in January. If you can take your vacation time AND take your kids out of school, maybe for one or two days, then you're going to find deep discounts at this time of year.

  • September

    • That first and second week of September are also deeply discounted times of the year. You're just starting school, so it may be a challenge, but the rates are low.

  • Mid-July through all of August

    • The heat and hurricane season deter some visitors from coming during this time of year, but if you can manage the heat, it’s a great time to visit.

    • You're going to find the very lowest rates in August. Yes, you have a chance of getting bad weather, but I've gone in August many times, and we've hit rain, but we've been lucky enough to never be part of a hurricane, and if anybody knows how to handle a hurricane, it's Disney World.

Enjoy larger than life theming at Disney’s Pop Century Resort! Here you can see Mickey Mouse on the side of one of the 1970s buildings.

#2 Stay on Disney Property

If you want to save the most money and get the most value out of your vacation, there are so many reasons to stay on property.

There are three types of Disney resorts:

  • Deluxe Resorts: The Deluxe resorts are the luxury resorts. They cost the most money. They include the most when you're staying at a deluxe resort, so you're paying for what you get.

  • Moderate Resorts: The moderate resorts are the mid-tier resorts and have some of the amenities found at luxury resorts without the price tag and convenience to the parks that the luxury resorts possess, and there's only a few moderate resorts. The moderate resorts have spacious rooms to accommodate a larger sized family. Caribbean Beach Resort and Port Orleans Riverside accommodate families of five really well, so those make sense to look at for cost savings.

  • Value Resorts: The value resorts are the lowest tier of resorts at Disney World, but they still hold three-stars. The designs of these resorts are amazing with big theming everywhere for children. The rooms in the value resorts are all pretty much the same size, except when you book a family suite at the All-Star Music Resort or a family suite at Art of Animation. The family suites cost more at Art of Animation, so, if you're looking for the most budget-friendly room for a larger family, the All-Star Music Resort will accommodate you with the best price. You are getting a more character-driven Disney experience at Art of Animation, however, so, if that's what you're looking for, then maybe paying a little extra is worth it for you, but just so you know, there's a difference in those prices.

    • The budget resorts are:

      • All-Star Music

      • All-Star Sports

      • All-Star Movies

      • Pop Century

      • Art of Animation

The All-Star resorts are themed to their titles, while Pop Century focuses on popular culture from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Finally, Art of Animation is a tribute to all of the very amazing Disney animated feature films of the last few decades or so, such as The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Cars. Most of the rooms found in the Art of Animation resort are family suites with the exception of The Little Mermaid rooms. If you're looking for the most budget-friendly room, and you want to stay at Art of Animation, then The Little Mermaid rooms are the way to go.

Oftentimes, I stay at Pop Century, and the reason is because it's a value resort, so it is at that lower price tier, along with the three All Stars and Art of Animation, however, the rates are lower than Art of Animation, but Pop Century shares the Skyliner transportation system with Art of Animation.

  • Art of Animation and Pop Century share a Skyliner hub, and the Skyliner, also known as the sky gondolas, is another form of transportation in Disney World, besides buses, the monorail and boats. If you are at a resort that is on the Skyliner, you just hop on the Skyliner, and you can go to Epcot, and to Hollywood Studios. It's so nice to be able to do that and not have to take a bus everywhere.

That's why I think there's a great value in staying at Pop Century, because you have access to that other form of transportation, while still staying in the value budget.

Other Reasons for Staying on Property:

  • Early Entry into the Parks

    • Early entry is usually a half hour before the park opens, but sometimes security will start letting people in closer to an hour before the park opens. The coffee shops and certain places are open already, and you might have a chance to grab a coffee, and then head to the ride you want to explore first and get in line there.

  • Disney Transportation

    • I have zero interest in renting a car and paying extra money when I don't have to. That just sounds stressful to me, and it costs more. You have to pay for parking (most places). You have to pay for the car rental. You have to drive the car all over. Why would I want to do that, if I can stay on Disney property and use all the transportation for free?

  • Disney Vacation Package Perks

    • If you book a Disney package, which is where you're booking the hotel along with your tickets, and if you're getting a dining plan as well, included in that package, you get a free round of miniature golf, and you get discounts on specific shopping and food throughout the park.

  • Access to Lightning Lane passes Seven Days Ahead of Your Arrival.

    • Okay, so, anyone who's not staying on Disney property cannot book their Lightning Lane passes until three days before they come, if they have a park reservation. If you are booked at Disney World, that means you have four days ahead of everybody else who's coming to the park that day to book your Lightning Lane, so you're going to get the best choices and the best times that are available to book your most desired rides!

    • That is worth it. Trust me. I'm going to explain a little more about why Lightning Lanes are worth it in your budget. Use Lightning Lane passes because even though you have to pay extra for Lightning Lane passes, in the end, you're going to wind up saving so much time by using it that you're getting more value for your money because you'll be able to enjoy more rides and have more experiences in your day, and you won't be spending that time standing in a line.

    • Disney uses dynamic pricing for Lightning Lanes, which is one of the reasons I recommend going during the off-peak times-those Lightning Lane passes are going to be much lower in price. For example, I was just looking at Animal Kingdom and a Lightning Lane for mid-week in September is $15 to add on to your tickets. This would cost a family of four an extra $60, but that family is going to be able to do a lot more with their day. I highly recommend using Lightning Lane Multipass.

#3 Use the Disney Dining Plan in 2026 If You Have Children Aged 9 and Under

It’s FREE for children 9 and under. This may not be the most budget-friendly choice forever, but for the year of 2026, it's absolutely worth doing, because you're going to save so much money when you don't have to pay for your children to eat. If you're like me and you have a child who doesn't eat a whole lot, sometimes you feel like you're wasting money anyway buying the meals, because they eat half of it, and then they're like, “I'm done,” and then an hour later they want snacks, right?

Enjoy cost effective character meals when using the Disney Dining Plan. The Crystal Palace, found in Magic Kingdom, is a beautiful restaurant where you can meet Winnie the Pooh and friends like Piglet!

#4 Limit Your Trip and follow this Schedule:

Four Nights - 2 Park Days - 1 Rest Day

OR

3 Nights - 1 Park Day -1 Rest Day

A lot of people will tell you, “Oh, you’re going to Disney World, you have to do like a six night stay or a five to seven night stay.”

I don't think you have to do that. If you want to have a budget-conscious vacation and have a wonderful time, you don't need to go to all four parks. If you book a four night or even a three night stay at a value resort, add the dining plan to that reservation, use your Lightning Lane passes when it's time, and you're only going to visit two parks or one park then you can have a wallet-friendly magical Disney vacation.

*If you are booking online, you will only have the option of booking a minimum of 2 park days when creating a package, however, if you call Disney, they can create a “basic” package for you, which will allow you to add the Dining Plan and 1 park day, if you so choose, so don’t be fooled by what you see online!

If it's your first time going to Disney, one of those parks has to be Magic Kingdom, because it is the center of Disney World.

Prioritize what you want to do on your other park day. Do you want to go explore Animal Kingdom, try some amazing food there, go on the safari, see the shows, go on a hiking trail and see the Gorilla Falls? Or do you want to go do some Star Wars experiences at Hollywood Studios? Or do you want to do the World Showcase in Epcot? Pick two parks.

My other advice is, you know, small trips make big memories.

I have done both types of vacations. I have done longer trips, and I have done shorter trips. 100% of the time, when I have gone on a longer trip, I always think, ‘Hmm… I didn't need to do that. That was too long. I didn't need to be there that long. I didn't need to stretch my budget that far.’

You need to put a rest day in there, otherwise you burn yourself out. Disney is more demanding on your body than you will ever realize until you do it, so you have to have downtime. Remember, you are not going to a park, you’re going to Disney World, and it’s the size of SanFrancisco! You also want to take some time to enjoy the resort where you're staying. You know, all the resorts have beautiful pools and activities at them. There's also Disney Springs, where you can shop and explore some of the offerings there like the Lego store, or Cirque du Soleil, etc.

Rest Day Magic

Relax on the beach and listen to the music in the evening when visiting the Polynesian Resort.

#5 Use Carry-On Luggage Only

This is a tip for people who are flying, because like me, many visitors to Diseny World live pretty far away. Do not waste your airfare paying for luggage. You do not want to pay the extra fees to check a bag. Use carry-on luggage. Pack in a smart way, okay? Be organized, plan ahead, only take what you need. You do not need to take 10,000 outfits. You only need to take a few outfits, a bathing suit, pajamas, your toiletries, etc. You know what I mean. You don't have to overpack, okay?”

Keep it really simple and concise, and don't waste money on checking luggage. That's going to cost you so much more added on to your airfare. Save your money there.

Every resort has laundry services, so if you're afraid you're not going to be able to do it on a carry-on luggage, well, think about it this way. Would you rather spend $100-$200 each way to check a bag, or would you rather spend $5 walking a bag of laundry over to the little laundry service area in your resort and throw it in the washing machine and come back an hour later to put it in the dryer? You could spend $5 doing that or $200, you know, checking two suitcases on an airplane. That is too much money.

Don't do it. Don't do it. Use carry-on.

#6 Use Mears Shuttle Service

Mears is the shuttle service that will take you right to Disney World and pick you up from Disney World and bring you back to the airport. Don't waste time on an Uber or a private service or anything like that. You're going to pay so much money for those. A one-way Uber is going to cost you close to $100. You don't need to pay that much money. Let's say you're a family of four. Okay, today's pricing as of the publication for a Mears Shuttle Service Ride, is $15 each way per person, so with tax, it's $33 per person round trip. You're going to pay around $132 round trip for your family of four to go from the airport to Disney World and back.

You've already saved at least $70. If you were going to use an Uber, you'd be paying around $200 to do that. Don't do that, save your money. I have no affiliation with Mears. I'm just telling you, because that's what I do, and I think the other services are more expensive.

#7 Place a Grocery Order

Place a grocery order delivery to your hotel room 2-3 days before your arrival date. You can get groceries delivered from all the different services like Walmart, Amazon, and Publix. Make sure you choose the delivery window that matches your estimated arrival time, and don’t worry about cold items, because Disney resorts have refrigerators to store your items for you until you get to your resort.

If you're following the plan above and staying at Disney for four nights, you’ll want to order some staples for your room. Here are a few suggestions:

  • bottled water

  • some snacks

  • cereal packets

  • candy

  • fruit

  • hand soap for the sink (hotel hand soap gets messy)

  • extra sunscreen

You don't want to purchase the above items by going into the gift shop in your resort, because you're going to pay more for them there than you should, so place your grocery order delivery, save your money there, and get the things that you need, especially water, okay? You're going to need lots of water in Disney.

#8 Set a Budget for Souvenir Spending

If you're taking children, I would recommend setting a souvenir budget and then buying Disney gift cards with the specific amount of money chosen. Follow that up with having a conversation with your kids about the gift cards. You could even buy smaller card amounts so that the kids can track their spending a little more easily. You know, you can think outside the box on this and how you would best approach it.

I feel like using gift cards and setting that budget ahead of time will keep everybody in check and set the expectations so you don't have meltdowns and, you know, kids saying, “But I really, really want this too,” when they already know how much they have left on their gift card. The children can choose and they can also have independence with that, which is really great for kids as they grow.

Best Character Meals

The best character dining in Disney starts with a story book.

Why Go to a Character Meal?

Character meals at Disney are dining reservations you make where specific characters will come to your table and visit you. They will spend time with you and your children while you are dining. It's a wonderful way to do meet and greets without having to wait in long lines in the parks. It takes some of that pressure off when, for example, your child really, really wants to meet Mirabelle, from Encanto. Well, you might be waiting in line for 40 minutes inside the Magic Kingdom, where Mirabelle does her Meet and Greet (by the Cheshire Cat Cafe), but, alternatively, you could make a reservation at 1900 Park Fair, which is a restaurant in the Grand Floridian Resort, and you could have a brunch with her or dinner with her and not have to wait in line at all!

This is the reason a lot of people like to go to a character meal; it's a laid-back way of making that time to meet characters. while enjoying these incredible memories with your children. You are not just watching your children interact with the characters, but a lot of times you, yourself, can join in with them and talk with the characters and get photos together.

That's what makes these dining reservations really special.

Top 3 Character Meals:

#1 Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White

My number one pick, and, actually, this was my daughter’s number one pick as well, is Storybook Dining at Artist Point with Snow White. I was very surprised by how much I loved this restaurant. In fact, I was very hesitant to go to this restaurant because this restaurant is at the Wilderness Lodge, which is a deluxe resort on Disney World property. If you're not staying at Wilderness Lodge, it can be a little bit of a hassle to get there, but it turned out to be a really fun experience for us. We went there on a rest day.

Story Book Dining at Artist Point

Make memories with Dopey and other classic characters from Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

We were staying at a resort on the Skyliner Transportation Route: Pop Century. If you don't know what Pop Century is, Pop Century is a wonderful resort and is classified in the Value level (there are 3 types of resorts at Disney World: Value, Moderate, and Deluxe). If you are staying at a resort that uses the Skyliner, you will have access to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and lots of restaurants, and it's great. It was actually a very easy system of transportation to get to Wilderness Lodge because we took the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios, and then when we got to Hollywood Studios, we got off the Skyliner and just walked right over to the bus port, which is right next to it. We waited for the bus to Wilderness Lodge, and it was a quick bus ride. I was surprised at how quickly we got there. When we arrived, we toured the resort, and we did a few other things, but I'll mention those in another post.

Storybook Dining at Artist Point features Snow White, Dopey, Grumpy, and the Evil Queen.

This was our overall best character dining experience. Now, the reason for this, I will say, is because it had it all. Oh, I do want to mention, it is open for dinner only. They do not serve breakfast or lunch.

This was the best overall because the food quality was top notch.

Every single serving appetizer, entree, dessert, was carefully and thoughtfully presented. It was delicious and really well-seasoned. One of the appetizers we got, for example, was a small little portion of mushroom soup. I do not like mushrooms. However, I enjoyed this mushroom soup very much.

The presentation is also part of it. They serve your appetizers on these little tree branches. The whole restaurant is decorated with trees kind of hovering over you, so you feel like you are in a forest with lanterns and things like that. It's really a beautiful atmosphere. The atmosphere, the food quality, and the pacing of the meal was perfect. We were not rushed. It was very laid back, and the service was excellent. Our server was wonderful. He even came up to us at the end and did his Donald Duck impression, which was really sweet.

It was excellent in every way.

#2 Chef Mickey

The reason Chef Mickey is number two is because you get to meet Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto at this restaurant. I mean, at their very best, the Fab Five are phenomenal in this restaurant. The character interactions with all of us were just wonderful. The location of this restaurant is in the Contemporary Resort, which is right next to Magic Kingdom.

If you want to go there for breakfast or take a break from the park and walk over for dinner, it's a quick 10-minute stroll from the Magic Kingdom. If it's raining or bad weather, you can jump on the monorail and it's the very first stop, so this restaurant is an excellent choice for location.

The food is adequate. You know, it's a buffet meal. It's not out of this world. I would not compare it to Storybook Dining with Snow White in terms of the level of quality of food. It's just not there, but you are going to get value for your money with the character interactions you have, and you're going to eat a decent meal. The service was excellent, however, so you can expect drinks to be on time and your needs will be met.

When I first started going to Disney, Chef Mickey used to be a family-style restaurant, meaning they brought lots of different foods to your table. It wasn't a buffet. And the quality of the food was just a little bit higher. You know, there was a little more thought and put into what they were serving and how they were serving it, so that has shifted a little bit, but our experience at the restaurant was still amazing.

Chef Mickey is one of my daughter's favorite places to go, and for that reason, I think it is well worth your time to go there - for your kids.

#3 Cape May Cafe Minnie’s Beach Bash

The Cape May Cafe is located in the Beach Club Resort, which is over right next to Epcot, so if you are staying at a hotel that is not near there or not on the Skyliner route, it may not be worth it for you to travel to this restaurant, but if you are staying in that area and it's easy for you to access, or if you are a big Minnie Mouse fan, by all means, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The character meal is only available at breakfast.

There's a few reasons I recommend this restaurant: First of all, it's a super laid-back, and the atmosphere is light and airy inside. Minnie and Daisy and Donald and Goofy are all in attendance at this character meal, and they're all dressed in their beach gear.

They do a dance party with the kids during the meal, and the last time we were there, one of the servers led the dance party with surfing moves, and he got all of the kids out of their seats and involved - it was just so sweet and wonderful.

The food is excellent. Now, I am going to sound like I am from 1950 saying this, but I'm not from 1950. They have an ambrosia salad at their breakfast buffet. Okay. I know this is like something from like, you know, the 80s, okay, or even before that, but I love it. It's so good. So, anyway, all the food choices are just fresh and delicious. The last time we were there, I had some blueberry pancakes that were phenomenal. My daughter was excited because they serve Minnie Mouse Waffles. Most of the restaurants serve Mickey waffles. The chocolate chip Minnie muffins were delicious. They also have lots of different meats to choose from, and there’s an omelet station.

Kids Opinion:

What do the kids think? My daughter's top restaurant is Chef Mickey. And I'm going to quote her right here:

“Because I love how Donald flips out if you wear a Mickey outfit. And I love how Minnie and all the characters dress up in their cooking costumes so they can cook for us. Duh.”

Her second restaurant was Storybook Dining with Snow White, and she said:

“Because I got to meet Dopey. It was awesome. It was so cool. And I love the trees that you get on your table. And their food was delicious. I love their chocolate and their mac and cheese. It's very rare to see the Evil Queen, so that was special.”

Oh, and she said to never ask Grumpy how his day is, because I made the mistake of asking Grumpy how his day was. So, that's your tip when you dine at Story Book Dining!
